Seashore Explorers - Beach Learning

At Pebsham Primary Academy we promote outdoor learning and we have developed our own motivational, educational and fun way of supporting our pupils.

It is called Seashore Explorers

Children in every class earn badges, which they add to their Explorer Sash.

Badges are awarded for the completion of different activities from flying kites, making stone music, dancing on the beach, water bucket relay races and even going 'on' the water.

Extra challenge badges are available at special times of the year.

Our pupils help to keep the local beach clean and tidy for our community.

The Green Team Get Designing

From a beach school assembly there was a discussion on how litter manages to end up on our beaches. It was recognised that the vast majority is from humans, as direct litter on the beach or blowing onto the beach from elsewhere. It was also agreed that some of the litter was from the seagulls trying to get food scraps - that had been placed correctly in the bin. How could this be solved? The humans were correctly putting waste in the bin and the seagulls were doing what is natural to them.

Up steps Emily [Year 4] from the Green Team with her Seagull proof bin!

Well designed Emily!
